TOMRA Congratulates Lucapa Diamond on Outstanding Tender

Summary

On February 1st, a historic sale of exceptional large diamonds was offered for sale via electronic tender according to Angola’s new diamond marketing policy. Seven top quality diamonds weighing 498 carats from the Lulo alluvial mine achieved a remarkable average price of US$33,530 per carat.

“The entire TOMRA team celebrates Lucapa’s truly brilliant tender results in Angola,” commented Geoffrey Madderson, Diamond Segment Manager for TOMRA Sorting Mining. “Lucapa’s strategic plan to drive innovation has unlocked enormous wealth at their Lulo Mine, turning it into the highest value per carat producer of any alluvial mine in production today.” Madderson added.

TOMRA currently operates one LDR XRT sorter at Lucapa Diamond’s Lulo diamond plant as well as two XRT machines at its Mothae Mine in Lesotho.
